OLIVE | Meet the Bunnies

Oh, hi there! I’m Olive. 🙃 I’m a Lionhead cross bunny, Hoomin says I’m very ‘unique‘ looking apparently, she’s never seen another quite like me!

I came into hoomins workplace (a vets!) as a tiny baby. I was much smaller than my brothers and sisters, very skinny and quite timid too.

Hoomin and the others there seperated me so I could be monitored daily and fed if needed. After about a month, I had put a small amount of weight on and didn’t have to be monitored daily, only weekly.

Hoomin missed seeing me and really enjoyed the times I came in. She asked if she could take me home and see if I wanted to be friends with Frank. She knew this was risky as she had tried SEVEN different bunny boys and girls with Frank before she took me home. I was so nervous to meet him… Gulp.

When I first met Frank he was pretty mean to me, he kept chasing me away and trying to bite me if I got close. I was so scared, but I didn’t get angry or fight back.

Hoomin didn’t give up because she knew we could be friends, I was much more patient than any  of the other bunnies she had tried. After a couple of days, Frank stopped being mean to me, but he completely ignored me… 😦

It took about a week before he suddenly realised I was alright, actually. Since then we have become good friends and are getting closer each day. We often share our dinner and sleep together.

I crave attention, from people and bunnies alike, I am just too friendly for my own good. One day, I escaped because I wanted to meet Barney and Hazel. Sadly, Hazel attacked me because she was frightened that I had suddenly come into her house. Luckily Hoomin heard straight away, and although I had a nasty wound on my face which needed surgery, I was okay and have now fully recovered.

I have met Barney and Hazel since then, but properly these times. They’re much kinder to me now but Hoomin doesn’t think we’re ready to live together yet- plus Frank is super grumpy and doesn’t like them at all at the moment!

I am very adventurous and love getting my nose into everything, this often gets me into trouble as you have already heard. I just can’t help it, I love exploring!

I have a great appetite, and now I weigh over 3kgs and I am still growing! I am very long/tall- Hoomin has no idea what I am crossed with but thinks it must be something quite big!

I like to try lots of new foods and will eat anything Hoomin offers me.

Hoomin says I am the craziest, funniest, most happy-go-lucky bunny she has ever met. I do like to binky and run bunny 500’s a lot…

FRANK | Meet the Bunnies

Hey, I’m Frank. The hoomins call me Frankiedoodle, Marshmallow, or Fluffy Butt also- but they’re extremely annoying and embarrassing so ignore them! They also call me ‘Lucifer’ sometimes- I don’t know why though as I’m a little angel…?

*(Hoomin interrupts to say Frank is definitely not an ‘angel’!)*

Okay, maybe I have a slight attitude.

I am still young but have had a pretty interesting life so far. I am also ‘adopted’ just like Barney and Hazel, but my story is prettyyyyy long so we’ll leave that for another time… I arrived at hoomins house when I was 3 months old so let’s go from there.

I was and still am absolutely gorgeously, handsome and ever so cute– even if I do say so myself. I mean, come one; deny it?! I didn’t think so….

Yes I know, heart breaker you don’t have to tell me. I am very choosey when it comes to bunny dating though. Hoomin says I met a total of SEVEN bunnies including Barney and Hazel before I eventually fell head over heels for the gorgeous Olive. She’s my only one true love until this day, as much as Hoomin would love for me to get on with Barney and Hazel too I’m just not interested!

Hoomin says think I am a Hoomin?! Really, I just like the luxuries in life. You know, soft bed, sofa, watching the TV, central heating… chocolate

Ohhhh yes I have a sweet spot for chocolate- much to hoomins dismay I actually managed to get hold of some just before Christmas last year. It was delicious! For some reason Hoomin was so angry! (maybe because she was saving it for herself?). She took me to some strange place, not my usual vets, and I had to stay overnight and have all sorts of tests and treatments including fluids and charcoal… Eww!

She says it cost her over £600, I say she’s silly and shouldn’t have left it lying around on the table- of course I was going to jump on a box, onto the sofa, onto the table to get to it! Unfortunately Hoomin has been extra careful with the precious chocolate and I have never managed to get hold of any since… It’s still my lifelong mission 😈

Aside from chocolate, I don’t really like much. I am particularly fussy and only really eat dry forage, hay and pellets. Occasionally I will eat fresh fruit, vegetables or herbs but only if I am feeling grateful to Hoomin for being such a good bunny slave.

I am not very adventurous or active- I prefer to lounge around, get lots of fuss, watch the world go by and chew cardboard tunnels.

I do occasionally explore, and when I do I’m not afraid of ANYTHING! Except aeroplanes, they’re terrifying

Thanks for reading about me, please ask lots of questions, it makes Hoomin excited, she’s weird, I know

HAZEL | Meet The Bunnies

Hello everyone, I’m Hazel. I’ll get the elephant out of the room: yes, I am a rather large rabbit. Hoomin tells me that she thinks I am a ‘Continental Giant rabbit’.

I had a very sad start to life, I don’t want to go too much into detail as it upsets me. However I will say this much; I was bought for someone’s child and they were very rough with me. I accidentally bit them because I was so frightened, but luckily Hoomin saved me before things could get any worse…

Hoomin was told I was a ‘dwarf mini lop’ rabbit, which, looking at the photo above on the day she saved me, is believable. However within a couple of weeks I looked like this

There was nothing ‘dwarf‘ or ‘mini‘ about me!! I’m even bigger now, and weigh almost 8kgs!

I have always been a very shy rabbit, I don’t trust many people thanks to my hard start. Hoomin, however, is good. I like her. She brings me treats and plays with me and has never pulled my ears.

She is rather annoying though and does things like take me to the ‘vets’- how awful! She also embarrasses me by regularly weighing me- stupid Hoomin.

Hoomin says I am the smartest out of all of her rabbits- I agree. I move things to help me reach new areas, I put myself back to bed after playtime and am the first to figure out new toys or treats.

I am pretty chilled and you can normally find me flopped out somewhere.

If not, I’m exploring something as I’m particularly inquisitive and curious…

You met Barney in the last post, he’s my best buddy and the size difference isn’t a problem! He’s small and cute!

Thankyou for listening to my story, and if you have any questions please ask away, I’d be thrilled to answer them!

BARNEY | Meet the Bunnies

Hi guys! My name is Barnibus Maximus Swanus, but everyone just calls me Barney! (I think my name is some kind of joke- I am a small friendly rabbit not a Roman warrior!)

I was born sometime late in 2013, hoomin gave me the birthday November 26th.

Hoomin doesn’t know exactly where I came from, and I don’t remember either. I just remember being taken from my mum when I was small, and taken to a different hoomins house. They had chosen me and my brother together which was really nice as I was so scared in this new, strange place.

Everything was okay for a little while but then when I was about 3 months old my brother got mean and started trying to fight me 😦 I’m not sure why and it still makes me sad to this day but hoomin tells me it’s something to do with ‘hormones’ whatever they are…

Anyway the old humans got very mad at us fighting and decided they didn’t want us anymore. The took us to a Pets at Home store where the staff kindly agreed to rehome us for them. They split us up so we wouldn’t fight anymore and put us into seperate cages.

I was there for a few weeks just watching the smaller baby bunnies go to new homes, but no one wanted me because I was much bigger than them I think.

Some time in February, about 1 month after being dropped off, hoomin came into the store to look around. She saw me and my brother in our seperate cages and spent lots of time watching us and talking to us. I was so excited because no one had paid me so much attention for such a long time! I even stood on my back legs looking up at her, and licking the glass to show her how excited I was.

Sadly, she walked out that day and I was still stuck there all alone…

About a month later, hoomin came back to see me! Oh, and this time… She took me home with her!

She told me my sweet attitude had completely won her over, but she couldn’t take me straight away as she had nothing ready for me and wanted to do lots of ‘research’ (whatever that is?!) to make sure she could look after me properly… I told her how silly that was she should have taken me right away!! Someone else could have taken me!

Hoomin said it must have been fate that I was still there waiting for her 🙂

Anyway, the rest is history. She took me home and I’ve been happy ever since (apart from those trips to the evil hoomins who give me injections! Hoomin says they are helping me but I don’t believe that for a second…)

I now live in my own shed with my best buddy, Hazel. She’s a big girl but she doesn’t scare me, she’s a softy really! Maybe she will introduce herself next?

I am allowed to run, hop and jump all over the garden. Hoomin also brings me inside for playtime but it’s very boring compared to outside so I prefer to stay out.

Thankyou for reading my story, I hope you liked it.
